House to vote on littoral ship funding

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote sometime on Thursday on the future funding of the littoral combat ship program.

Marinette, Wis.(WFRV)- The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote sometime on Thursday on the future funding of the littoral combat ship program.

Marinette Marine would directly be affected by the vote. The appropriations bill would provide the funding for two more ships to be built.

Although Congressman Reid Ribble is confident the bill will pass, he says there may be several potential roadblocks.

"What I'm watching very closely during today's debate is any amendment that might try to eliminate or reduce the program further." says Ribble. "One of the reasons I'm such a big supporter of the littoral combat program is because the Navy is so insistent they absolutely need this for the defense of the nation, and that's one of the reasons I'm so focused on it."

Congressman Ribble will be on the floor to make his case and will keep a close eye out for any amendments that may deter the measure.
