Marquette defeats Miami to advance to Elite 8

The Marquette Golden Eagles are a win away from the Final Four following an impressive win on Thursday night over the Miami Hurricanes in the East Regional semifinals in Washington, D. C.

With the 71-61 victory, Marquette advances to the Elite Eight for the first time since their Final Four run in 2003.

Jamil Wilson led the Golden Eagles (26-8) with 16 points off the bench.  Vander Blue had 14, while Trent Lockett added 8 points and 11 rebounds. 

Marquette will face Syracuse on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 in the regional final.  The Orange knocked off top-seeded Indiana in the other semifinal in Washington, D. C. on Thursday night.

Also Thursday, Ohio State and Wichita State advanced to the West Regional final in Los Angeles.
