Road Trip: Hughes Home Maid Chocolate Shop

With just over two weeks until Easter, it is time to start stuffing those baskets.
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - With just over two weeks until Easter, it is time to start stuffing those baskets.

Since the 1940's people have flocked to the south side of Oshkosh to satisfy their sweet tooth, at Hughes Home Maid Chocolate Shop.

"Popular items are English toffee, meltaways, and crawlers, which are turtles" explains Tom Hughes.

The business is a blink and you will miss it kind of place.

"I think a lot of people like to come because we are in a residential area, it is a unique set up here in the basement" he explains.

It is the same home where Tom's grandparents lived, and learned to make luscious chocolates.

"Generation wise I am the 3rd generation producing it" Hughes says.

The close family bond is made even tighter by the close quarters.

To see the production process check out this Road Trip video.

Hughes is located at 1823 Doty Street in Oshkosh.

They are open to the public September through May.
