One of the biggest draws to the county fair are the livestock exhibits. And of course here in Wisconsin that means coming to the fair to see the dairy cows. Despite a reduction in farm numbers the dairy project continues to be a very popular one and Dave Selner explains why the project area teaches more than the ability to pick out and show off a quality dairy animal.
The value of showing livestock at a county fair goes beyond the color of the ribbon. The project not only educates the young exhibitors on what it takes to have a quailty dairy animal and how to show her off to her strengths, not weaknesses, but it also teaches the junior fair exhibitor some important life skills as well.
