Just days left for Salvation Army's Red Kettles campaign

The Salvation Army of Brown County's Red Kettle campaign is down about 15 percent from last year's numbers.

BROWN COUNTY, Wis (WFRV) - The Salvation Army of Brown County's Red Kettle campaign is down about 15 percent from last year's numbers.

On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation provided a final surge to the campaign by pledging a $5,000 match.

Captain Ken Shiels of the Salvation Army said that Christmas Eve is traditionally not a busy day, but they're still more than 50 red kettles placed throughout Brown County Tuesday, hoping to attract any last minute donations.

Over a course of two days, the Salvation Army of Brown County assisted 471 families through Adopt a Family; 216 individuals who received food baskets; and 2,081 families with 5,362 children came through its Toy Shop, receiving books, toys and stocking stuffers.

The kettles will be out until December 28 to catch any last minute shoppers.
