ASHWAUBENON, Wis (WFRV)-- Stores at Bay Park mall were buzzing with people on Christmas Eve as shoppers grabbed some last minute gifts.
“This is when I have time," said Christopher Lambert.
Christopher is deploying to Afghanistan in two weeks.
He went to Build-a-Bear to record a special message to his son.
“I got a microphone, a little thing they put in a bear for my son and I thought I’d do this before I leave," he said.
While some shoppers were looking for that one special gift, others were looking to score a last minute bargain.
Brooke Gildner said, “All the stores have last minute sales to get everybody in so it’s worth it, definitely worth it to come out.”
The days leading up to Christmas, mall officials said about 80,000 shoppers come through.
The Bay Park Mall Director of Communications, Stephanie Blavat, said, “Today is definitely one of the busiest days of the year for shopping. It traditionally is.”
But some weren’t here to shop at all.
Some folks were lining up to tell Santa their last minute gift requests.
“What are you going to ask Santa for Christmas?” Local 5's Jenn Sullivan asked.
“Art supplies," said Brennah Staidl.
The mall will be opne until 6 pm Christmas Eve and be closed Christmas Day.
