Belt buckle stops bullet, saves victim from serious injury

Fond du Lac police responded to reports of multiple shots fired around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Main and Second streets.

FOND DU LAC, Wis (WFRV)- A 30-year-old male from Fond du Lac was struck by a bullet around 2:30 a.m. this morning; however, the victim's belt buckle stopped the bullet from causing serious injury, police said.

Fond du Lac police responded to reports of multiple shots fired around the area of Main and Second streets earlier today. Officers were able to apprehend two suspects, who were fleeing the scene on foot.

According to a police report, four shots in total were fired.

One suspect, a 34-year-old male from Fond du Lac is being held in connection with the shooting. The second suspect, a 19-year-old male has been released from police custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
