Walk to School Day

Thousands of kids from Green Bay and the Fox Cities stayed healthey by walking to school today.
Green Bay, Wis.(WFRV)- Kids from all over the area were out and active this morning for National Walk to School Day.

The Safe Routes To School Organization is helping kids maintain healthy and active lives, especially those who live far away from school. Walk to School Day helps kids do just that, by including activities, challenges and incentives.

"Sometimes we recommend for parents to drop off a few blocks away and walk in with their children in the morning and then walk back to their car and go to work or wherever and it's just a great way to spend time with your kids right away in the morning." says Melissa Badtke, who coordinates the Safe Routes to School program.

The program is very popular in the Fox Cities and Green Bay. More than 20 area schools and over 10,000 students participated in the walk.
