Warm temperatures may come at a price

The lack of snow has not hurt farmers
OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis (WFRV) - The lack of snow has not hurt farmers because it has not been extremely cold. Snow actually protects crops from the extreme cold, but since the temps have been relatively mild nothing has been damaged yet. As long as the temperatures do not rise and fall sharply, an extreme amount of snow will not be needed due to the near records amounts of snow the past two years. However, the DNR is concerned about the lack of snow since the conditions could affect the recharging of water tables and that will decrease water levels in area rivers and lakes. The DNR also says this winter is setting us up for a dry early spring and summer.
