You need circulation in your attic to allow the heat to escape and prevent moisture build up or condensation. If you don't have proper ventilation your wood will mildew and rot.
If the outside of your house is swarming with mosquitoes, there's an all-natural way to keep that pest population down. In today's Ready, Set, Home, Joe Sherinski has a mosquito-control solution that may make you think he's gone batty.
Before your child is crawling, walking and becoming a lot more mobile, it would be a good time to childproof your house. Get down on all fours and search the house for potential hazards to your child.
Remember that in addition to childproofing your own home, make sure that your child is safe at daycare and when visiting friends and family. Do grandparents have medicines within a child's reach? Does your family member have a gun that is not properly locked away?
Air circulation in your home is very important but sometimes the air vents alone aren't enough to get the air moving around.
Over time even the best carpet wears out and needs to be replaced. With so many floor covering options available today, what do you choose? More carpet, hardwood floors, vinyl or laminate?
A trellis is a great way to add climbing vines to your landscape. But sometimes it isn't feasible to have a permanently installed trellis where you are trying to grow vines. A hinged trellis allows you to have all the benefits of vines, but with the added benefit of being able to move the trellis so that you can access what is behind it without damaging your delicate plants.
By using either of these two methods, you can raise sunken areas of your lawn and achieve a nice, flat lawn...
Steps For Building Vertical Edging
Stumps can be removed using a chemical method, or a physical method. The chemical method involves "rotting out" the stump, while the physical method requires chipping out the stump with a stump grinder.
We are building a 6'x8' kidney shaped pond. However, you may choose any desired shape or size.
Recessed stone edging allows you to place your mower wheel directly on the edging. This prevents the need to trim around the bed.
It's no secret that a foundation with structural damage can be a homeowner's worst nightmare. That's why it's important to make sure the design of the foundation for your new house meets the conditions specific to your parcel of land and to your section of the country. Our segment featured a look at an excavated home-site that gave us an "x-ray view" of the foundation before contractors poured the concrete.

Safety during a fire is no joke. Eight out of ten fire deaths occur in the home, and an appalling number of households are badly unprepared to react when fire hits home. You literally cannot have too many smoke detectors in your house. Building codes require a smoke detector in every bedroom of a new house. Older homes should at least have one detector in every section of the house with bedrooms (like a hallway outside adjacent bedrooms, for instance). We'll highlight a few safety features you can deploy around the house to ensure the safety of your loved ones.
Every year people are electrocuted in their bathrooms and kitchens when appliances accidentally make contact with water. But you can avoid this life-threatening danger by installing a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter--known as GFCI--in your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, garage, any place where water and electricity could come into contact.
If you've seen any news footage of tornadoes or hurricanes, you've probably seen how easily their storm-force winds can pry a roof off a house. The roof is the most vulnerable part of your house. And if the roof blows off your house, it is easy for other parts of the house to collapse.

As you can see, this door has been badly abused. There's a big dent over here. There's a ding right in here and a whole bunch of little dings over here. Now this is a metal door and a lot of people who have a metal door that's been abused think the only way to take care of it is to buy a new metal door. We've got a less expensive and very easy way for you to take care of these problems. The first step is to start sanding. Now the compound we're gonna be using is a two-component automobile body filler called Bondo. And the second part is a hardener and we'll just squeeze a little bit out of this. Wanna mix it up real good. You wanna be sure you work it into the dents and also feather it out about an inch beyond where you sanded here. And, give it about 15 minutes. Well our compound has hardened. Now we're gonna sand it off with a finer sandpaper. Be sure you wear a mask because you don't wanna breath this stuff. Now our next thing we need to do is to put a rust preventive primer over all the bare spots where the metal is showing. And we're using a spray, aerosol spray, because it's a lot easier and it doesn't leave any brush marks. Well our projects are finished and I think you'll agree you'll never be able to find these bad places, particularly when we get a coat of paint on this baby. The beauty about this is, that is cost us under 30 bucks. Now think how much it would have cost to buy two new doors - a bunch.
