Sunday Morning Video Forecast 1/14

From Storm Team 5...

Good Sunday morning! A bitter cold one outside to start, with clear skies that helped to dropped temperatures in the sub-zero category late last night.   Mostly clear and sunny conditions will be out there to begin Sunday, with increasing clouds that arrive with the late morning and early afternoon.  High temperatures today push into the middle to upper teens.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for most of the area starting at 6pm tonight, continuing until midnight Monday into Tuesday. A WINTER STORM WARNING was issued for Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc county from 8pm tonight until Tuesday at 6am.

Tonight, snow showers will begin around 6pm in western sections and continue through the overnight.  Accumulations will likely reach the inch to two inch range as we step out the door on Monday morning for the commute to work and school.  Low temperatures holding steady in the teens.

On Monday, scattered snow showers will be the rule throughout most of the day, starting to fade away before midnight.  This will not be the biggest snow maker of the season, but enough to get out the shovels and snow blowers again as it will be a long-duration light snow event.  Accumulation totals will be varied, however, most locations will end up in the 3-5" range by the evening.  Lake enhanced snow bands are expected to take over as winds shift to the northeast, so snow totals likely to push into the 6-10" inch range for some lakeside communities like Kewaunee and Manitowoc, while northern Door County will likely see the highest totals near a foot.

By Tuesday, the snow showers will fade away minus a few lake effect snow showers early on.  We can't totally rule out a snow flurry falling from the cloudy sky, but temperatures likely to reach the lower 20s for highs.

It's not going to be a terrible cold week ahead. High temperatures will eventually make it back into the 30s by the end of the week, even flirting with 40s again for the weekend.  It's possible the snow from tonight and Monday will be gone real soon!

Stay tuned for the latest updates from Storm Team 5!
