Calvin Lewis is a Multi-Media Journalist for Local 5 News since March 2019.
Calvin comes to Green Bay from Marquette in the Upper Peninsula, where he previously worked for WFRV’s sister station WJMN Local 3 News. With WJMN, Calvin worked as a multi-media journalist, fill-in anchor and co-host of an original, half-hour program called the Local 3 High School Sports Zone. He was recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for his work as a photojournalist, being awarded Photojournalist of the Year in 2017.
He graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism Honors. During his time at Wayne State, Calvin was involved with the student radio station WAYN and worked as a producer on the student-run program MetroArts Detroit. He was recognized and awarded for his work in school with the W. Sprague Holden Memorial Scholarship in Journalism and the Benjamin J. Burns Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Journalism. Outside of school, Calvin learned more about the broadcast field through internships with Cumulus Media, Detroit Public Television and WDIV Local 4 News in downtown Detroit. He also worked as a field reporter and producer during the 2015 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.
Originally from Harrison Township, Michigan, Calvin was born and raised a Detroit sports fan. Being a Lions fan in Packer territory is something he’s still getting used to! When he’s not working, he enjoys running, traveling, tasting craft beers and watching other sports, especially Premier League soccer.
If you happen to see him outside the station, be sure to say “hi!” as he always enjoys meeting new people.
