MK Burgess joins the Local 5 Sports team from Anchorage, Alaska.
She spent an adventure-filled two and a half years in the 49th state, covering events like the Iditarod, lots of cross country skiing, snowmobile races and the iconic Mount Marathon race, a 5k up 3,000 feet of elevation.
Living in the Last Frontier was the experience of a lifetime and she learned so much as a journalist during her time in Alaska.
Her favorite stories include covering Kikkan Randall’s gold medal win in the 2018 Winter Olympics and being on the Iditarod trail, chasing the mushers as they made their way to Nome.
Before Alaska, MK spent two years in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, covering her Cardinals and Blues. And yes, she’s still talking about that 2019 Stanley Cup win for the Blues.
When she’s not devouring football games and game day food, you can find MK running on the various trails in Green Bay, reading by the beautiful waterfront spots, or listening to Bruce Springsteen. She’s also a BIG fan of dogs. All dogs.
MK is a 2015 graduate of the University of Missouri’s journalism school. She has a deep fondness for the Tigers but grew up cheering for the Florida Gators, who her grandpa played football for.
MK is always looking for a good sports story and can’t wait to become a part of the Green Bay community. Please do not hesitate to send her story ideas via twitter, @MK_Burgess, Instagram, @mkburgesstv or on Facebook, @MKBurgessSports
