MENASHA (WFRV) — One Fox Valley group is asking for help in growing something good to eat.

Menasha’s St, Joseph Food Program is asking gardeners to plant an extra row of vegetables.  It’s part of the program’s “Grow a Row” campaign.

The group started the donation idea several years ago, and people with the program say a little produce goes a long way.

“Produce is a perishable item so we are always needing to replenish it,” St. Joseph development director Karen Ziemke said.  “It’s not going to last long even stored in our refrigeration, so the constant is important because we serve over a thousand families.”

Last year, at least seven large gardens produced 1,000 pounds of produce each.
