In two weeks voters will elect a new sheriff in Oconto County and Local 5 recently sat down with the candidates to ask them “5 Critical Questions” about the race. Now their unedited answers can be found on our website, WeAreGreenBay.com. Here is more on this project aimed to better inform our viewers.
Law enforcement is a demanding position. And in Oconto County two men with decades of experience are looking to become the next sheriff. But where do they stand on the issues and what makes them the best person for the job? Now you can find out firsthand from the candidates as they answer “5 Critical Questions.”
The two candidates for this job currently work in the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office. Todd Skarban has been in law enforcement nearly 20 years and Ed Janke over 35 years. They agreed to sit down and answer “5 Critical Questions” about the opioid crisis, school safety, managing the sheriff’s office and more. The same questions – with their unedited responses posted to WeAreGreenBay.com.
“It’s a debt I owe to the people of Oconto County, to give back and that’s my intention here, to give back and work hard for them and bring all the things Oconto County has taught me over the last 20 years to the table and to the forefront,” said candidate Todd Skarban.
“This has always been my home and over the course of time through my training, experience and education, I’ve developed a set of tools and I think it is time for me to apply those tools as sheriff of Oconto County,” said candidate Ed Janke.
It’s a digital debate – without any of the drama. Exactly what you need to know before casting your vote on election day. You can watch the unedited answers from the two candidates on WeAreGreenBay.com after 8 PM Tuesday.
