Don Schimmels is “Looking Forward to Learning New Things” at 99-Years-Old

Hometown Heroes

Don Schimmels says nobody should ever stop learning, and claims that’s what keeps him going strong at 99-years-old.

The Air Force veteran was a propeller specialist during World War II. After serving for five years, he later went on to be a history and English teacher for 33 years. In fact, he wants to continue his education this fall by taking a course on WWI at UWGB.

Local 5’s Nate Stewart tells us more about Don’s service to our country. To nominate your Hometown Hero, email nate.stewart@wearegreenbay.com.
