Air Force veteran Cathy Landry joined the service in 1965. She would end up meeting Air Force Officer Fred Landry after he pulled her over for allegedly running through a red light. Turns out, he had bigger plans.

The two both served at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and eventually tied the knot. They went on their first date on Valentine’s Day, got engaged St. Patrick’s Day, and got married on Labor Day!

However, the last holiday they would celebrate together would be Christmas five years ago.

Fred died due to complications of Agent Orange, and Cathy made a promise to him that she would do everything to raise awareness about the seriousness of its effects on the body so that other families don’t suffer.

Local 5’s Nate Stewart shows us how Cathy is speaking up through the veterans groups she’s a part of, and why she wants the government to help out more in the fight against Agent Orange.
