Ruth Potier followed in her brothers’ footsteps during World War II

Hometown Heroes

Ruth Potier says her three brothers all had some military experience growing up, so she decided to join the Navy during World War II to do what she could for the country.

Now at 96-years-old, the Navy veteran says her experience was a good one, and she served as a bookkeeper. She’s also reportedly the first woman from Door County to join the Navy. Local 5’s Nate Stewart has Ruth’s story.
