(WFRV) – Is your idea of celebrating March a frozen green treat from a certain fast food chain with golden arches?

You can still have a shake without busting your diet.

The UWGB Dietetic Intern Program has a healthy option for a shamrock shake!.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 frozen bananas

  • 1 cup baby spinach, packed

  • 1/2 avocado, pitted and scooped

  • 1/2 cup fresh mint

  • 1 cup plant-based milk (like homemade hemp seed milk)

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon pure mint extract

  • Optional: whipped cream (plant-based, dairy-free, or coconut cream)

  • Raw cacao nibs or Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. If you don’t already have frozen bananas, slice up two ripe bananas and throw them in the freezer for an hour or two.

  2. Add the bananas, mint and spinach to the blender.

  3. Add the coconut milk, but reserve some of the coconut cream from the top for the topping (if you don’t want to use whipped cream).

  4. Add the vanilla and mint extract.

  5. Blend until smooth.

  6. Top with whipped cream or coconut cream as desired.

  7. Garnish with raw cacao nibs or chocolate chips.
