Bike Week promotes friendly alternative to driving

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – If you’ve got a bike and have considered using it to get to and from work, this is the perfect week to start.

Fox Cities Greenways is promoting Bike Week, and it’s exactly what it sounds like.

The group promotes bike riding as a healthier and more environmentally friendly alternative to driving.

“Anything you can do in a car you can do on a bike, and we’ve tried to get people to understand that so they get out and do that more often,” said event coordinator Tom Walsh.

Events throughout the week include Bike Safety Day and a silent ride to honor those killed in traffic while riding their bikes.

It culminates with a seven mile ride through Menasha Saturday.
