(WFRV) Blue Bell Creameries is recalling *all* of its products over listeria fears.

Ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and other frozen snacks all have to be pulled from store shelves.

Officials say they could potentially be contaminated with listeria, an organism that causes serious, and sometimes fatal, infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

A company statement said that Blue Bell decided on a full voluntary recall after it found Listeria in chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream on two different occasions in March. Five patients in Kansas and three in Texas tested positive for the bacteria after eating Blue Bell products.

The company is implementing a “test and hold” procedure during the recall. That means all recalled products will be tested and re-released to the market if they are found to be safe.

Customers who have purchased Blue Bell products can return them for a full refund. There’s more information on the company’s website www.bluebell.com.
