For the 5th time in the past five years, Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has left the team to have a cryotherapy procedure on his ailing right thumb.

Milwaukee Manager Craig Counsell says Braun is out of the lineup tonight vs. Pittsburgh, but will rejoin the team in Milwaukee Thursday and be reevaluated.

Counsell says it’s possible the 34-year-old Braun could only miss one game if the injection on his thumb alleviates the pain right away.

In 58 games this year, Braun is batting .236 with 8 HR, and 31 RBI.
