DNR Issues Burn Warning as Temps Rise

OCONTO FALLS, Wis. (WFRV) – Our warmer weather is increasing the risk of wildfires.

As a result, the Wisconsin Department of Natural resources is reminding residents about open burning.

People outside of villages or cities are required to have a burning permit before burning leaves, wood or debris.

“Even in some of the woods right now, it very little snow in some places. It’s a quick turn of events on us. So that’s what made us enact the burning restrictions,” DNR Ranger Chris Duncan says.

Permit holders also need to call in daily after 11 a.m. for the current burning restrictions.
