GREEN BAY (WFRV) — It’s a sign of summer is right around the corner: the Green Bay Farmers Market starts Saturday.

The market has some new additions this year, including the new market square located along the Fox River between Riverwalk Plaza and Riverside Place.  The market square will host a number of vendors, free yoga, and live music.

“It’s the real social components that go along with it,” Jeff Merkes with Downtown Green Bay, Inc. said.  “The Broadway market is really an event.  There’s entertainment, there’s food, it’s a real experience, and there’s produce, so the farmers market is really popular.”

“Farmers markets, in general in general, across the country are very popular,” he said.  “People want healthy, they want locally sourced foods, and in Green Bay it’s big time.  The winter farmers market was huge, and now we have two great summer markets.”

The farmers market runs from Walnut to Stuart Street from 7 a.m. to noon.
