1 person dead following car fire in New London

New London (WFRV) One person is dead following a vehicle fire in New London Saturday morning.

The New London Police Department says they were notified of a vehicle on fire in the area of Henry Street, east of N. Shawano Street at 9:43 am Saturday morning.

Police say when they arrived they found a fully engulfed sport utility vehicle.

 An Officer attempted to suppress the fire with an extinguisher and noticed that the vehicle was occupied.

The New London Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. 

The person has not been positively identified yet. An autopsy will be conducted on Monday.

Police say nothing appears suspicious at this time and the public is in not in danger.
