25-Year-Old Woman Dies Following Crash in Fond du Lac

It happened near Griffith Road, a dog was also killed in the crash

TOWNSHIP OF ROSENDALE, Wis. (WFRV) - A 25-year-old woman from Brandon has died after a car crash on New Year's Eve,

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 12:34 p.m. on Highway 26 near Griffith Road in the Township of Rosendale.

According to a press release, the woman has been identified as Rose Larson. She was reportedly driving southbound on Highway 26 when she lost control on the ice and snow-covered road. Her vehicle then spun and went into the northbound lane. That's when a 61-year-old female from Winneconne, identified as Jane Piddington, struck Larson's car.

The sheriff's office says that Larson was wearing a seatbelt, but died due to her injuries from the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A dog in the vehicle was also killed.

Authorities say Piddington  was also wearing a seatbelt. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation.
