30th Annual WPS Volunteer Awards

Local News

Hundreds of people came out to the K.I. Convention Center Thursday morning for Wisconsin Public Service’s 30th Annual Volunteer Awards.  As usual, the event was hosted by Local 5’s own Tom Zalaski and Erin Davisson.  Awards were given in a variety of categories, like the Arts & Culture Award, the Volunteer Leadership Awards, and the Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I think organizations, especially non-profits in the area, recognize that without these volunteers, their missions wouldn’t be able to be met,” said Eric Sponholtz, Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Brown County.   “And they’re able to give back to other people in various ways because of the help of these volunteers.”

In all, nearly 1700 volunteers were recognized today for their contributions to the community.
