The funeral for fallen firefighter Mitch Lundgaard has ended.

The funeral of firefighter Lundgaard is happening now.

Church at capacity for public visitation of fallen firefighter

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) — Appleton Alliance Church has informed Local 5 they have reached capacity. 

In lieu of the public visitation, the church is asking the community to pay their respects by lining the processional route this evening. 

The processional route will take the same path back to the funeral home as it took to the church this afternoon. 

The evening procession is expected to leave the church for the funeral home at 8 p.m. with the potential of starting later depending on how long the 6 p.m. funeral goes. 

Funeral procession for firefighter Lundgaard

Funeral arrangements are set for an Appleton firefighter who was killed in a shooting on Wednesday, May 15 in the line of duty. 

Funeral arrangements for Firefighter Mitch Lundgaard have been completed and are as follows:

An Appleton Emergency Services processional will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel at 606 N. Oneida Street in Appleton going to Appleton Alliance Church located at 2693 West Grand Chute Blvd. in Grand Chute.

Below is a map of the route starting from the funeral home going and ending at the church.

Police and fire officials encourage the public to line the boulevards of the route to show their support.

Public visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Appleton Alliance and will conclude at 5:30 p.m.  All uniformed personnel are asked to remain for the service.

The funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is not open to the general public.

When the services have concluded a large processional including all emergency vehicles from across the region will travel back to the funeral chapel.

The evening procession, traveling along the same route as the afternoon procession, is expected to leave the church for the funeral home at 8 p.m.
