African Heritage Inc.Hosts Annual Juneteenth Festival

The 8th annual Juneteenth Festival took place today at City Park in Appleton.

The African Heritage Inc. hosted this festival that brings together the community and celebrates freedom, unity and community. 

At the festival, live music, dance and performances were open to all to see and hear. 

The event commemorates the June 19th, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas and the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the Confederacy of the Southern United States. 

A member of African Heritage Inc., Sabrina Robinson says;

“The goal is to keep growing, to keep putting forward positive images of African Americans, celebrating our culture this year and share our heritage with others.”
