Republican Andre Jacque has defeated Alex Renard by just over 300 votes in Tuesday night’s 1st State Senate District Special Primary Election.

Jacque, who is currently a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from the 2nd District, will now advance to the special general election against Democratic nominee Caleb Frostman on June 12.

The 1st State Senate District seat became available when former State Senator Frank Lassee left the district to take a job in Governor Scott Walker’s administration.
