Animals Removed From Condemned Home Ready for Adoption

Local News

(UPDATE) 07/25/2018

Earlier this month, dozens of animals were found in horrible conditions at a home in the Town of Pittsfield.
Now, some of those animals are ready for a new home.

There were 31 dogs — two snakes — a bearded dragon and more animals that were rescued from that home.

Most of the dogs were infested with fleas and suffering from infections.

After the proper care from the Green Bay Humane Society, a few of those dogs are ready for their forever home.

They are available at Pet Supplies Plus in Ashwaubenon.

Dozens of animals will need new homes after being removed from a home in rural Brown County.  Local 5’s Kris Schuller reports the animals are in poor health and now investigators want to know what happened.

In this rundown home in the Town of Pittsfield on County Y on Thursday, dozens of animals were found living in horrible conditions. A tragic discovery that surprised people living nearby – like Bonnie Kraning.

“We didn’t know, it was a shock when we heard it,” Kraning said. “I never realized that these people had animals in the house.”

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office the animals were found after deputies came here responding to a report of a person who died of natural causes. Inside they found 30 dogs, two snakes, a quail, a rooster, a bearded dragon, a guinea pig and a mouse.

The animals were removed and taken to the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Green Bay campus. Officials there telling Local 5, the animals are in rough condition. Kraning said she knew little about her neighbors.

“We always heard it was just an older lady and her daughter. They usually kept to themselves and were quiet, you would see animals and stuff like that around,” Kraning said.

Now those animals are gone. But the Humane Society has set out traps to capture any that may still remain. The house has been condemned.  And for now -Brown County investigators aren’t saying much else about what they found in this home.

Investigators will not say if they found a person dead inside the home. They expect to release more details in coming days.
