Appleton Man Arrested for Posing as a Doctor

Local News
Larsen, Kyle

A 32-year-old Appleton man has been arrested for posing as a doctor. Kyle G. Larsen was operating under the name “Doctor Kyle Ellis” for the purpose of his illegal practice.

Police say they were tipped off to the practice by a suspicious client.

“We checked with the state licensing board and quickly found that there was no physician that should be operating under that name,” Lt. Daniel Weiske of the Appleton Police Department explained.

Once police discovered “Dr. Ellis” was not a licensed physician, more red flags were revealed, including the variety of treatments offered at Medical Psychology of Wisconsin, LLC.

“A laundry list, basically, of different procedures that were being offered that in turn led to the level of concern,” Lt. Weiske said. “Most medical providers have a specialty.”

Another red flag: the business was operating on “basically a cash basis.”

After several search warrants were served, police learned Larsen was prescribing and dispensing medications. According to police, he does not have a license for any of it.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information about this fraudulent practice to please contact Appleton Police at (920) 832-5500.
