Appleton Police investigating Dollar General armed robbery

Police say a man entered the store with a knife and took off on foot with cash

APPLETON - The Appleton Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened at the Dollar General in the 1300 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue around 9:30 Thursday night.

Police say there were no immediate reports of anybody injured in the incident. Police say the suspect robbed the business with a knife and took off with some cash on foot.

The suspect is described as a male in his late teens or early 20's. He was described as being approximately 5’8" to 5’10” and having a slim to average build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket and dark-colored hat at the time of the robbery.

Like other recent robberies, the suspect had a knife in his possession and no one was injured, but police say they are still concerned for public safety.

"Anytime that we have an incident like this where there's a weapon introduced into the crime we become concerned," says Dave Lund with the Appleton police department. "And whether, that's a knife as in this case or if it's a handgun or rifle, really anything that can actually cause injury to someone is of concern."

Investigators from the Appleton Police Department are asking the public to contact them with any information they may have related to the robbery.
