Appleton Police Release Information on Traffic and Planning for Octoberfest

The much anticipated Octoberfest Weekend in Appleton is upon us and that means some changes in traffic in the downtown area. 

On Friday, September 28th, License to Cruise begins at 6 pm and ends at 9:30 pm. For staging of vehicles, College Avenue will be closed between Drew and Lawe Street at noon. The remainder of College Avenue from Memorial Drive/Richmond Street to Drew Street will close three hours later at 3 pm. 

During the event Appleton Street and Morrison Street will be closed at College Avenue between 6 pm and 10 pm. All other cross streets along College Avenue from Memorial Drive/Richmond Street to Drew Street will be closed starting at 3 pm. 

Following the event College Avenue will remain closed through the night and during the duration of Octoberfest which takes place Saturday, September 29th. Cross traffic will be restricted at the intersection of College Avenue and Morrison Street as well as the intersection of College Avenue and Appleton Street. 

Appleton Street and Morrison Street will be closed at College Avenue between 5 AM and 9 PM due to Octoberfest. All cross streets along College Avenue from Memorial Drive/Richmond Street to Lawe Street will be closed for the entire event and will not reopen until clean up is completed. 

Detour routes have been planned for north and southbound commuters. Northbound will be rerouted to South Oneida Street, crossing the Skyline Bridge, utilizing W. Prospect Avenue to S. Memorial Drive. Those traveling southbound on N. Appleton Street will be diverted to W. Franklin Street to N. Richmond Street. All detours will be marked.
