Results from the Wisconsin State King Veteran Home audit are in The new audit results found the facility has seen an 80 percent increase in overtime for employees at the King facility since 2013.
This audit was done after a group of Wisconsin Lawmakers pushed for a non-partisan audit of the home in King . The audit recommends cutting down overtime by filling more certified nursing assistant positions. The audit found that the nearly 50 complaints were sent to the Legislative Audit Bureau included concerns about the overtime. and lack of staff.
In 2013 the state approved hiring eighty nurse positions and by 20166 half of those were empty.Senator Cowles says he hopes this audit will help bring more awareness to the health workforce shortage in Wisconsin.
