Boy Who Survived Drowning Meets First Responders Who Helped Save Him

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. - A three year-old boy who was pulled lifeless from a pool on July 1st stopped by Ashwaubenon Public Safety on Tuesday to thank the first responders who helped save his life.

Calyx Harnowski was at a backyard pool party. His parents had put a life jacket on him, but removed it once Calyx wanted to run around the backyard and play in the house.

Calyx found his way back to the pool, without his life jacket. An adult found him at the bottom of the pool minutes later.

Three nurses happened to be at the party, and they performed CPR on Calyx while another person called 9-1-1.

Ashwaubenon Public Safety first responders rushed Calyx to the hospital. He was in critical condition and brought to the ICU. After a week of recovering, Calyx is back to being his playful 3 year-old self.

He stopped by the Ashwaubenon Public Safety building to say thank you to all the first responders who helped him.

Officials say an adult should always act as a lifeguard at a pool when children are there.
