Bridal party prepares for wedding despite April snowstorm

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - When planning an April wedding, most brides don't figure in snow as a factor.

"We didn't really plan for a winter wedding, we thinking spring," said Anne Stoychoff, whose daughter, Emilie, is getting married Saturday. "But we started watching the weather about a week ago though and just kind of went oh great, now we adjust."

Emilie added that based on last year's April weather, she expected a warm wedding.

"I was hoping that it would be 75 just like last year, but we live in Wisconsin so there's always that chance," she said.

Emilie's wedding and reception are both inside, so the biggest problem the bridal party was left to solve on Friday was where pictures would be taken.

"I wanted to do a n outdoor, like rustic theme pictures but due to the weather we have to adjust it a little bit," Emilie said.

Sarah Stoychoff, Emilie's maid of honor, added, "She's been kind of freaking out and we've been just trying to calm her. I think her biggest concern actually is pictures, but we're going to make it work, she's been calling around to places to get pictures done and rain or shine, it's going to be a good day."

An additional concern with inclement weather expected is travel.

Emilie is concerned that some guests planning on driving to Green Bay on Saturday will have to cancel.

"I can imagine some people can't make it because of the weather which I understand," Emilie said, "I mean safety first, but I would love for everybody to be there that was coming."

Although travel is a cause for concern, one special guest was able to make it all the way from Germany to make Emilie's big day special.

"I traveled for Emilie because I'm going to be a bridesmaid, which is going to be a big honor for me," said Jenny Oschmann, who once lived with the Stoychoff family as an exchange student. "I expected it to snow but not in April, but I lived here so I know it can get really rough."

Snow or spring, Emilie and her bridal party are looking forward to a good time.
