Brown-Outagamie Bomb Squad trains their new robot

Local News

BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) — The Brown-Outagamie Bomb Squad has a new addition to their ranks.

Members of the bomb squad were training their new robot. It’s a smaller, quicker version of their existing 17-year-old robot. The new robot can go up and down stairs a lot easier and get into tighter spaces. Officials say the robot is an important safety tool.

“Being able to do things as remote enhances the safety of the bomb technician,” says Lieutenant Chris Knurr, a member of the bomb squad.

Knurr also says the new robot doesn’t mean the old one is going into retirement. If both units are deployed at the same time, it means multiple teams can work together.
