Caretaker Arrested After Toddler Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

A 25-year-old man is in custody and facing child abuse charges after a two-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Sheboygan Police Department, the suspect brought the unresponsive 35-month-old toddler to the hospital. The man was reportedly in a relationship with the girl’s mother and was taking care of her at his residence. When it was determined the child’s injuries were consistent with abuse, police were notified and the man was taken into custody. Police are referring charges of Felony Physical Abuse and Possession of Marijuana to the District Attorney’s Office.

Sheboygan police are still investigating and the child is still in the hospital. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
