Children in the Ashwaubenon area got the chance to meet the Easter Bunny a little early this year.
The Caring Bunny was at the Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon on Sunday, April 14 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
The Caring Bunny knows how to interact with children who are on the autism spectrum.
Families who have children with special needs made appointments to meet the Caring Bunny and take pictures with him.
The environment was tailored to make the photo opp a more relaxed experience for children with special needs. There was no music, flashing lights, and not even a flash on the camera taking photos.
“He has nonverbal autism so we usually have them come to the house, but this is the first time coming out where we could schedule it kind of a more sensory-friendly, quieter time,” says De pere resident Katie Stiteley.
The Caring Bunny photo session was in partnership with the organization called Autism Speaks.
