Celebrate April Fools’ Day early with an annual 5k supporting Appleton schools

The eighth annual April Fools’ 5K Run/Walk is coming early this year. You are invited to join in on this yearly fundraiser for the Appleton Area School District’s athletic programs Friday, March 23, 2018. 
Orthopedics & Sports Institute of the Fox Valley Community Program and Race Director Courtney Vosters stopped by Local 5 This Morning with more on how this fun event gives back to the community. 

Orthopedic & Sports Institute of the Fox Valley (OSI) and Miron Construction Co., Inc. will host this year’s event. 

Since its beginning in 2011, the April Fools’ 5K has raised more than $105,000 and all profits from the race have gone to the Appleton Area School District’s athletic programs.

The run/walk begins at OSI, 2105 E. Enterprise Ave., in Appleton at 6 p.m. and finishes at Appleton North High School, 5000 N. Ballard Road.
This year, post-race events will include a buffet, a sampling of chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, music, strength competitions and family-friendly activities sponsored by the YMCA of the Fox Cities.

Participants 21 and older can also attend the post-race party at 8 p.m. at The StoneYard, W3010 Edgewood Trail in Appleton, featuring local band RPM and more chances to win prizes.
Pre-registration is encouraged at itsracetime.com, however, participants can also register the day of the event.

Participants who register before March 5 are guaranteed a race shirt and youth finisher medal for those 18 and under. Pricing is as follows:
•         Participants over 18, includes long sleeve technical shirt: $30 ($35 after March 5)
•         Participants 18 & younger, includes long sleeve technical shirt & finisher medal: $18 ($23 after March 5)
•         Participants 18 & younger, finisher medal only: $10.00
