The proceeds from this year’s Cellcom Green Bay Marathon will officially be donated to local non-profit charities Tuesday. The proceeds totaled $102,026.

Cellcom will be distributing its annual contribution to the Greater Green Bay YMCA, Special Olympics Wisconsin and the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.

They’ll also give away the Mary Poppele award to West De Pere graduate Sam Ricker, who was the Green Bay Marathon’s top fundraiser with $600. When asked why fundraising is important to him, Ricker said:

“During the long runs, you have lots of time to think about things. In many cases, I found myself thinking about those who are less fortunate than me. I believe that I wasn’t on my own during those long runs. I was carrying these people along with me during my journey…”

Next year’s Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is scheduled for May 18-19, 2019.
