CHAPS Academy closing its doors

Local News

A mental health clinic in Shiocton, which uses horses for therapy, is closing its doors at the end of January.

CHAPS Academy will be closing January 31. The academy board president says it’s due to low reimbursements and the cost of running an equine therapy clinic. In the past 14 years of being in operation, the clinic has served more than 2,500 clients and their families.

Transition plans for current clients and the horses the academy owns are in place. The facility itself will be put on the market after it officially closes.
