Charges referred in Two Rivers death

Police say charges have been referred in the death of a Two Rivers teen.

Police responded to an apartment in Two Rivers on December 12, 2017 for the report of a dead 19-year-old man. Witnesses told police they saw the victim buy and use drugs the night before allegedly from the defendant, 18-year-old Kyla Hanstedt of Manitowoc. Police say Hanstedt was later arrested on December 22, 2017 for delivery of a controlled substance.

The Two Rivers Police Department received results from the Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office showing the victim’s cause of death as mixed drug toxicity. Police tell Local 5 Hanstedt was taken into custody on Thursday and a charge of First Degree Reckless Homicide has been referred to the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s Office.
