You and your family are invited to a unique twist on a Friday night at the movies. Fort Howard Memorial Park is introducing Cinema in the Cemetery Friday, June 22 with their first film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
Amanda Heidtman with Fort Howard Memorial Park stopped by Local 5 This Morning ahead of the first event of the summer.
“Most visitors come in mourning, an additional event like this is a way to bring the community together, showing the beauty and peacefulness the cemetery has,” Heidtman said. “We have seen how positive this has been at two of our other cemeteries in Wisconsin and decided to extend this to the Green Bay community as well.”
Cinema in the Cemetery will be held in the undeveloped green space out of the mausoleum. It’s a free event, bring your chairs or blankets, friends and family and an apatite.
“The Smoked to the Bone food truck will be providing food for purchase,” Heidtman said.
Each Cinema in the Cemetery will also serve as a fundraiser for a local organization. On Friday, June 22 they will be collecting donations for United Way of Brown County.
The second scheduled movie night is August 17 showing Hocus Pocus.
Movies start at dusk, with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. Admission is always free.
Fort Howard Memorial Park is a prominent family owned and operated cemetery which offers full service cemetery products, services and trusts.
