Seven people were rescued safely by the Coast Guard after being stranded in their ice shanty on Tuesday.

The Coast Guard says the group was about one mile northeast of Snake Island and were unable to make it back to shore after the weather caused difficulties with their UTV.

The weather was reported as -4 degrees, with a wind chill factor of -30.

Crews arrived on scene with airboats and transported them back to shore. Nobody was injured or had any medical concerns.
