Susie Rose moved to Texas from her home in Kimberly when she was 17-years-old.
Two kids and 43 years later, Susie has only returned once before to see her family at home.
And on Friday, Susie and her son Austin landed at the Appleton International Airport, to a large welcome party, made up of her three brothers and their families.
It was a homecoming made possible by the Fox Communities Credit Union’s Uniting Families contest.
Susie’s niece, Katie Joosten, says she received an email from the Credit Union about the contest, and she immediately thought of her aunt.
Susie was chosen out of over 200 entries to be one of five finalists. Then, Facebook votes decided the rest.
Susie’s family says that even though she made her own family in Texas, her heart stayed in Northeast Wisconsin. Her husband passed several years ago, making the homecoming even more meaningful.
Susie said she was overwhelmed by her love for her family, and her family’s warm welcome for her and her son.
Susie will be in Wisconsin on this trip until January third, but she says she hopes to someday make the move back to her home state.
