Controlled prairie burn taking place in Village of Allouez

ALLOUEZ, Wis. (WFRV)

On Friday, April 19th and Saturday, May 4th, residents in the Allouez area might be seeing some smoke.

Lakeshore Cleaners, Inc. will be conducting a controlled prairie burn at Hoffman Rd., Boyd St., and Heritage Hill Stormwater Ponds.

They have several decades of experience in conducting prairie burns using various control techniques like creating fire breaks.

The benefits include reducing invasive species, controlling woody vegetation, recycling nutrients and increasing the quality of the prairie grasses and wildflowers.
