UPDATE: Multiple fire crews spent hours battling a business fire in the town of Peshtigo Wednesday morning.
Crews responded around 3 a.m. to a fire at Dun-Rite Asphalt Maintenance on County Highway B.
“We went immediately to a box alarm, and we upgraded to a second alarm fire a little bit later,” said Fire Chief Mike Folgert. “One of our main issues here was water supply. Because we’re in a rural area outside of the city, we don’t have any hydrants immediately available to us. So we had to call in extra water tenders to shovel water in.”
The shop portion of the building is a total loss, but crews say the office portion was saved.
The cause of the fire is unknown and the incident remains under investigation.
