Diocese of Green Bay celebrates 150th year with film premiere

Local News

A film two years in the making premiered Sunday afternoon in Green Bay at the Meyer Theater.

The Diocese of Green Bay celebrates its 150th Jubilee in 2018, and the milestone was marked with a documentary.

“We had to gather a lot of information from a variety of places,” Justine Lodel, Director of Communications for the Diocese of Green Bay told Local Five. “So there’s video in there, there’s still photographs, there’s drawings, there’s animation, there’s just a plethora of things. I think people are going to find it very interesting the way we tell the story.”

A team from Local Five helped the Diocese produce the film, and features Local Five anchor Erin Davisson as one of the narrators.

Officials hope that looking at the history of the Diocese will benefit the church’s future.

“When we recognize we’ve been here a real long time, you just start to be very grateful that our ancestors have passed this faith and this church on to us,” said Bishop David Ricken. “Now it’s our turn to do something positive for the future.”
